Benguela-Belize Pipelines Project
West Africa
The Benguela-Belize Project, an oil and gas production development, is located in the northern part of Block 14, offshore Angola, West Africa. The drilling and production platform serves as a production hub for the Benguela, Belize, Lobito and Tomboco oil fields and is located in 1,280 feet of water approximately 45 miles offshore Cabinda, Angola.

The riser and pipeline portions of the project consisted of 13 risers and 2 export pipelines. The risers system incorporated risers for export, glycol injection, water injection, future subsea production, and test. The riser system included mid-water connections between the complaint tower's top tower section and bottom tower section. The export oil and gas pipelines consisted of 60 miles of 10" to 24" pipelines. The export pipelines contained pipeline end manifolds (PLEMs) to tie-in the riser to the pipelines. Jumpers with diverless connectors were used to connect the risers to the export pipelines.

CTI engineering and construction personnel integrated into the Benguela-Belize Project Team to provide project engineering support and construction expertise for the risers and export pipelines during both the planning and execution phases of the project, performing the following functions:
  • Management of the procurement of key project materials
  • Project engineering and planning
  • Review of specifications
  • Material selection
  • Construction planning prior to mobilization
  • Offshore construction management and support
  • Review of construction procedures
