VIV Suppression Retrofit Project
Gulf of Mexico
The VIV (Vortex Induced Vibration) Suppression Retrofit Project involved the retrofitting and/or installation of additional VIV suppression hardware onto several existing subsea production risers at existing Shell deepwater assets and facilities in the Gulf of Mexico.

CTI project management personnel were integrated on a full time basis into the Shell VIV Project Team to provide project management, engineering and technical support during the planning and execution of Phase 1 of the VIV Project. CTI project management personnel performed the following functions during the project:
  • Preparation of project budgets for Phase 1 of the VIV Project
  • Managed the design, fabrication, and onshore testing of the VIV suppression installation tooling and deployment equipment developed specifically to perform the work from existing Shell production facilities with minimal interruption to normal production operations
  • Prepared and submitted financial updates and forecast reports
  • Managed hardware suppliers, tooling designers, ROV operators, and production facility personnel prior to and during offshore installation operations
  • Performed offshore senior installation management, supervision and logistical coordination during offshore installation operations
