Noble Midstream Partners – Spec Oil Take Away Pipeline System – West Texas

The Spec Oil Take Away (SOTA) Pipeline is a 16-inch diameter oil pipeline system connecting processing facilities south and west of Pecos, Texas, to a customer delivery point on Highway 285 in Reeves County, Texas. The system is designed for an ANSI 600 pressure rating and is approximately 25 miles in length. Facilities included in this system are:

  • Collier CGF launcher facility
  • Cowhorn CGF launcher facility
  • Cowhorn Junction receiver and mainline valve facility.
  • Highway 285 facility consists of a receiver, LACT unit, and interconnects / relief piping

CTI was contracted to support each phase of development for this regulated pipeline. These responsibilities include:

  • Hydraulic analyses of the pipeline system:
    • Use WinFlo software to validate the system hydraulics
    • Determine if available capacity on the system is suitable for initial flow volumes
    • Determine the ability of the system to add volumes as the field is developed and help arbitrate appropriate locations for the new interconnects
  • Routing:
    • Working with right-of-way (ROW) and environmental personnel, suggest routing of the pipeline
    • Supervise survey of route and review alignment sheets to determine appropriate construction methodologies
  • Interconnects:
    • Designed, standardized, and drafted interconnect piping
    • Generated bills of material for all components at each system interconnect and data sheets as needed
  • Construction Management:
    • Coordinate right-of-way (ROW), survey, and construction logistics
    • Oversee/inspect construction to confirm regulatory compliance
    • Liaise with Client operations personnel for tie-in and commissioning of the well lines
